Bio:

2x4, Inc. is a multidisciplinary design studio founded in 1994 by Michael Rock, Susan Sellers and Georgianna Stout headquartered in New York City. We are an expansive practice that engages brand, print, film/video, web and environmental design. 2x4 focuses primarily on communications for art, architecture and culture-related projects. They've worked with clients as diverse as The New York Times Magazine, Knoll , MoMA , The Guggenheim Museum, Vitra , Prada , The P.S.1 Center for Contemporary Art, The Nasher Sculpture Center, Diller + Scofidio Architects and of course, Rem Koolhaas. Comprised of writers, artists, digital filmmakers and designers, 2x4 houses some of the most talented people in the industry in one modest office on Varick street in New York.

Our studio was founded upon, and continues to be defined by, a commitment to collaboration. Our work been published and exhibited extensively. In May of 2005, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art unveiled “Design Series 3: 2x4”, a solo exhibition of 2x4 work over the last decade. In 2007, early 2x4 work for ANY Magazine, Prada, Vitra and the IIT McCormick Tribune Building were included the exhibition “Just In: Recent Acquisitions from the Collection”, opened at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. In 2006, 2x4 was awarded the National Design Award for Communications by the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum. 2x4 work has been featured in numerous publications including Time Magazine, Eye and Idea Magazine among others. An exhibition and related catalog of 2x4’s work entitled it is what it is was installed at the EYE OF GYRE gallery in Tokyo in the Fall of 2009.
